Galtür is located on 1,600 metres above sea level and thus, it is the highest village of the Paznaun valley. Here your are not only exceptionally close to the famous peaks of the so-called Blue Silvretta, also the glaciers of the surrounding mountains seem to be within reach and form a marvellous contrast to the wide valley.
Up here the air is extraordinarily clear and helps not only allergics to breathe through. The silcence that you can enjoy as the first athlete on the cross-country trail, the first one to reach the peak with touring skis or the first to grab the snow shoes in the morning: you can only experience this when doing the quieter kinds of sports which play an important role here in Galtür. Fans of cross-country skiing can look forward to 74 km of trails for classic skiing and skate skiing technique, and if you prefer ski touring or snowshoeing, you will have to make a choice of all the numerous options you have here.
